Titans roll Redhawks

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College women's tennis team shut out La Roche University 9-0 Friday afternoon. 

Westminster is 3-1 this season. Friday was La Roche's first match of the season. 

Freshman Emma Overlingas (Pittsburgh, Pa., Baldwin) and senior Caroline Fox (Acton, Calif., Vasquez) won at No. 1 doubles, 8-0. Fox, a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 2 singles, improved to 4-0 in singles action this season. Overlingas won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. 

Junior Ryleigh Valone (Erie, Pa., Villa Maria Academy) and junior Taylor Dlugozima (Volant, Pa., Wilmington) won their No. 2 doubles match, 8-0. Dlugozima won at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0. The win was Dlugozima's first this season. 

Sophomore Emily Klaus (Warren, Ohio, Warren JFK) and junior Ally Zervanos (Bridgeville, Pa., Chartiers Valley) won at No. 3 doubles, 8-2.

Junior Gia Francisco (Canfield, Ohio, Canfield) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles while sophomore Grace Askey (Dubois, Pa., Jeff Tech) claimed a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles. Freshman Morgan Allen (Johnstown, Pa., Westmont Hilltop) won at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0. It was her first collegiate victory. 

Westminster will travel to Washington, Pa. to take on Washington & Jefferson College Saturday. The match is set for a 1 p.m. start at the Janet Swanson Tennis Center.
