Titans open league slate with victory

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio--The Westminster College men's lacrosse team opened its Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) schedule with a convincing 20-7 victory at Franciscan University Saturday afternoon at Trinity Health System Field. 

Westminster, winners of four straight and five of its last six, improved to 5-4 this season. Franciscan fell to 4-2. The Titans have won seven-straight games against the Barons, dating back to 2017. 

Seven different players scored goals for Westminster. Freshman attack Brady Page (Cranberry Township, Pa. | Seneca Valley) finished with a season-high seven points on five goals and a pair of assists. Senior attack Ryan Greer (Cranberry Township, Pa. | Seneca Valley) added four goals, two assists, four ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Sophomore midfielder Gavin Jones (Henrico, Va. | Douglas S. Freeman) had four goals, four ground balls and two caused turnovers while senior attack Nick Hubner (Pittsburgh, Pa. | Plum) added four goals. 

Sophomore defender Brody McGuinness (Heber City, Utah | Wasatch) finished with a goal, an assist, three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Senior midfielder Boyd Foster (Lincoln, R.I. | Lincoln) added one goal and one assist. Senior long stick midfielder Mike Roman (Norristown, Pa. | Germantown Academy) added two assists, a career-high 13 ground balls and a caused turnover.

Freshman goalkeeper Brendan Siwik (Aldie, Va. | John Champe) made seven saves for Westminster. 


Greer netted a pair of 0first period goals to help Westminster jump out to a 3-0 lead. The Titans erupted in the second, outscoring the Barons 7-2 and carrying a 10-2 advantage into halftime. Jones, Page and Hubner each scored twice in the period. 

Leading 14-4 after three periods, Westminster pushed its lead to 20-5 in the fourth before securing the 13-goal win. Page scored a pair of fourth period goals. 

Westminster continues PAC play next Saturday, April 1 at Grove City College. The game is scheduled to get underway at 3 p.m.
