Titans defeat Keuka

AUBURNDALE, Fla.--The Westminster College baseball team concluded its seven-game schedule at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational Saturday afternoon with an 11-6 victory over Keuka College. 

Westminster is now 5-7 after going 2-5 in Florida. Keuka fell to 1-2. 

Westminster pounded out 15 hits in Saturday's win. Six players had multi-hit games. 

Senior center fielder Brandon Cooper (Oakdale, Pa. | West Allegheny) went 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, a home run, two RBIs and four runs scored. Graduate student right fielder Seth Schrader (Fredonia, N.Y. | Fredonia) went 3-for-5 with four RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base. 

Junior left fielder Matthew Randza (Beaver Falls, Pa. | Blackhawk) had two doubles, scored two runs and had a walk and a stolen base. Junior shortstop Logan Murgenovich (Aliquippa, Pa. | Central Valley) went 2-for-4 with a double, a pair of walks and two runs scored. Sophomore third baseman Braeden Campbell (Glenshaw, Pa. | Shaler) had two hits and two RBIs while junior first baseman Jake Dockum (Fairport, N.Y. | Allendale Columbia) had two hits, including a triple, and a walk. 

Sophomore starter Jake Vitale (New Castle, Pa. | Union) evened his season record at 2-2 with the victory. He allowed four runs (4 earned) on six hits with four walks and a season-high 10 strikeouts. Freshman Josh Reed (Beaver Falls, Pa. | Blackhawk) threw one inning of scoreless relief. Freshman Tyler Parsons (Hebron, Ky. | Conner) faced one batter in the bottom of the eighth and stranded a runner in scoring position with a strikeout.

Knotted up at 4-4 after three innings, Cooper slugged a two-run home run in the top of the fourth. It was his second-straight game with a home run. 

Leading 6-4, Westminster plated five runs in the top of the seventh to grab an 11-4 lead. Schrader had a two-run base hit and junior catcher Chase Tomko (Hermitage, Pa. | West Middlesex) delivered a two-run double in the frame. 

Westminster is scheduled to travel to Pitt-Greensburg on Thursday. The single game is slated for 3:30 p.m.
