ORLANDO, Fla.--The Westminster College women's tennis team claimed a 7-2 win over Curry College Thursday afternoon at the United State Tennis Association (USTA) National Campus.
Westminster pushed its record to 12-5 this season. Curry fell to 1-14.
The Titans swept doubles play to jump out to a 3-0 lead heading into singles action. Sophomore Gia Francisco (Canfield, Ohio | Canfield) won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and sophomore Christine Rossi (Jefferson Hills, Pa. | Thomas Jefferson) earned a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles. Senior Sabrina Slagle (Upper St. Clair, Pa. | Upper St. Clair) claimed a 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 win at No. 4 singles and sophomore Ryleigh Valone (Erie, Pa. | Villa Maria Academy) picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles.
Westminster closes out its four-match Spring Break swing to the USTA National Campus Friday morning against the University of Scranton. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m.
