Titans defeat Wisconsin-Superior

ORLANDO, Fla.--The Westminster College women's tennis team earned a 6-3 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Superior Wednesday night at the United State Tennis Association (USTA) National Campus.

Westminster ran its season record to 11-5. Concordia-Wisconsin fell to 3-8. 

Westminster opened the match by winning five of six in singles play. Sophomore Gia Francisco (Canfield, Ohio | Canfield) earned a 6-1, 6-2 win over Andreina Tejada at No. 1 singles and sophomore Emma Sukal (Pittsburgh, Pa. | Baldwin) rallied to defeat Marina Dostal 5-7, 7-5, 10-2 at No. 2 singles. Freshman Christine Rossi (Jefferson Hills, Pa. | Thomas Jefferson) secured a 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles over Courtney Brandt and senior Sabrina Slagle (Upper St. Clair, Pa. | Upper St. Clair) came back to defeat Brooke Wilfong 3-6, 6-2, 10-4 at No. 4 singles. Sophomore Ryleigh Valone (Erie, Pa. | Villa Maria Academy) picked up a 7-6 (2), 2-6, 10-7 win over Jessi Kukowski at No. 6 singles. 

The Yellowjackets won two of three doubles matches. Junior Caroline Fox (Acton, Calif. | Vasquez) partnered with Valone to score an 8-6 victory at No. 3 doubles against Wilfong and Daylyn Drew.

Westminster returns to the court Thursday against Curry College. The match is slated to get underway at 11:30 a.m.
