Seven named Academic All-District®

GREENWOOD, Ind.--Seven Westminster College football players were named 2023 Academic All-District® team selections Tuesday afternoon by College Sports Communicators (CSC). The Academic All-District® teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. 

Senior Carter Chinn (Grove City, Pa., Grove City), sophomore Dante Compagni (Eighty Four, Pa., Ringgold), juniors Josh Elm (Pittsburgh, Pa., Avonworth)Matthew Howard (Grove City, Pa., Grove City)Evan Lewis (Elizabeth, Pa., Elizabeth Forward) and Dylan Llewellyn (Murrysville, Pa., Franklin Regional) and senior Lane Voytik (Sharon, Pa., Sharon) were honored. 

Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late January. 

Chinn, a defensive lineman, carries a 3.75 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) while majoring in business administration. He has been named to the College's Dean's List four times and is a four-time PAC Academic Honor Roll selection (2 football, 2 baseball). He earned Honorable Mention All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) on Nov. 16. On Sept. 27, Chinn was named a semifinalist for the 2023 William V. Campbell Trophy®, considered by many to be the "Academic Heisman" and nicknamed as such. He finished with 35 tackles (19 solo), 6.0 tackles for loss and a pair of sacks in nine starts. Last May, Chinn was named to the Academic All-District® Baseball team. 

Compagni, an offensive lineman, holds a 3.63 cumulative GPA as a nursing major. He was named to Westminster's Dean's List and the PAC's Academic Honor Roll last fall. Compagni made 10 starts this season at right tackle. 

Elm, a defensive lineman, carries a 3.62 cumulative GPA while majoring in business administration. Named to the College's Dean's List last spring, he finished the season with 27 tackles (13 solo), 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks in eight starts. Elm was named named a member of the D3football.com Team of the Week on Sept. 26 after posting six tackles (5 solo), 2.5 tackles for loss and a pair of sacks in a PAC victory at Waynesburg University on Sept. 23. 

Howard, an offensive lineman, maintains a 3.84 cumulative GPA as a biology major. He has been named to the College's Dean's List four times and is a two-time PAC Academic Honor Roll selection. Howard made 10 starts last fall at right guard. He earned Honorable Mention All-PAC on Nov. 16.

A linebacker, Lewis owns a 4.00 cumulative GPA while triple majoring in finance, marketing and professional sales. He has been named to Westminster's Dean's List twice and was a PAC Academic Honor Roll selection last fall. Lewis totaled 20 tackles (11 solo), 4.5 tackles for loss and a pair of sacks in nine starts. 

Llewellyn, an offensive lineman, carries a 3.63 cumulative GPA as a finance and accounting double major. A three-time Dean's List selection and two-time PAC Academic Honor Roll designee, he made 10 starts at center this season. 

Voytik, a quarterback, carries a 3.97 cumulative GPA as a biology major. He has been named to the College's Dean's List six times and is a three-time PAC Academic Honor Roll selection. Voytik is the current president of Westminster's Student Government Association (SGA). He has served as Westminster's primary holder on field goals and extra points, earning a spot on the PAC's Sportsmanship Team this fall. The PAC Sportsmanship Teams were established to recognize student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior and are an ongoing effort to recognize and encourage positive sportsmanship among all PAC teams.

Westminster ended its season 6-4, winning three of its last four.
