Westminster cruises to 25-point win at Pitt-Greensburg

GREENSBURG, Pa.--Thirteen players scored for the Westminster College women's basketball team in Monday's 79-54 non-conference matinee win at Pitt-Greensburg.

Westminster improved to 7-4 this season while Pitt-Greensburg fell to 3-7.

Fifth-year Natalie Murrio (Pittsburgh, Pa., Brentwood) and junior Emily Hess (Edinboro, Pa., General McLane) both scored in double figures. Murrio had a game-high 19 points, finishing 6-of-9 from the floor and 5-of-6 from the free throw line and hit a pair of three-pointers for the first time this season. Murrio also pulled down four rebounds and had four assists. Hess scored 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting and added a pair of rebounds. Graduate student Camden Hergenrother (Salem, Ohio, Cardinal Mooney) chipped in with eight points, seven rebounds, six assists and a pair of steals. She was 3-of-6 from the field and knocked down both of her three-point field goal attempts. Fifth-year Lindsay Bell (Youngstown, Ohio, Ursuline) had seven points and five boards.

Anna Durbin and Malina Boord led Pitt-Greensburg in scoring, finishing with 16 and 15 points, respectively. Durbin scored 10 of her 14 in the first quarter. 

Tied 14-14 late in the first, senior Mariah Vincent (Franklin, Pa., Kennedy Catholic) drilled a three-pointer as the quarter expired to give Westminster a three-point lead. Murrio and Hess combined for nine of the Titans' 17 first quarter points. Westminster, fueled by a 7-0 run to start the second, outscored Pitt-Greensburg 26-9 in the period to go up 20, 43-23, at the break. Murrio had 10 first half points while Hess and Bell added eight and seven points, respectively. Nine players scored for the Titans in the opening half.

Murrio had points in the third while senior Katie Fitzpatrick (Cumberland Center, Maine, Greely) scored six of her eight points in the quarter. The Titans forged a 31-point lead in the third before heading to the fourth quarter up 25, 63-38. Senior Caitlyn Condoleon (Warren, Ohio, Warren JFK) pushed the fourth quarter lead to 30, 68-38, with just under nine minutes left in regulation. 

Westminster shot a season-high 51.7 percent (30-58) from the field and posted a 46-27 rebounding advantage. The Titans' bench outscored Pitt-Greensburg's bench 32-2. 

Westminster will visit John Carroll University on Saturday, Dec. 30. Tipoff at the DeCarlo Varsity Center in University Heights, Ohio is slated for 1 p.m.
