Westminster advances to PAC playoffs with shutout victory

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College women's volleyball team concluded its regular season with a straight-set victory over Saint Vincent College Saturday night at Ron Galbreath Court inside Buzz Ridl Gymnasium.

Westminster earned a 3-0 win (25-21, 25-17, 25-13) to improve to 17-12 overall and 5-5 in the conference. The Titans pushed their home record this season to 5-2 with their 12th sweep of the year. 

Senior Natalie Franke (Centerville, Pa., Union City) hit .360 with 11 kills, two blocks and two digs while senior Lauren Lampus (Sarver, Pa., Freeport) totaled eight kills, one assist and nine digs. Junior Ava Ferringer (Venus, Pa., Cranberry) registered seven kills while senior Saylee Grinnen (Wampum, Pa., Ellwood City) hit .444 with four kills to go along with three blocks and five digs. Sophomore Shelby Rambo (East Palestine, Ohio, Crestview) had five kills, two blocks and a dig and sophomore Rachel Brady (Columbus, Pa., Corry) had three kills and six digs.

Senior Reanna Daniels (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) totaled 15 assists, one service ace and nine digs and sophomore Angie Nardone (Ellwood City, Pa., Ellwood City) registered one kill, 14 assists and 11 digs. Senior Malia Duffy (Allison Park, Pa., North Allegheny) totaled five assists and 27 digs while senior Claire Tobin (Battlecreek, Mich., Lakeview) totaled 17 digs. 

Westminster's seven seniors -- Daniels, Duffy, Franke, Grinnen, Lampus, Macy Stoddard (Erie, Pa., Harbor Creek) and Tobin -- were honored before the match. 

Westminster advances to the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament as the No. 5 seed. The Titans will travel to No. 4 Washington & Jefferson Tuesday. The opening serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Salvitti Family Gymnasium. Ticket prices are $5 for adults and $2 for students.
