Westminster drops non-conference match to Alfred

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.-- The Westminster College women's soccer team lost 1-0 to Alfred Saturday evening at the UPMC Sports Complex. 

Westminster fell to 10-2 overall and Alfred improved to 2-4-4. 

Olivia Gilbert scored the only goal of the game off an assist from Abby Scanlan in the 13th minute. 

Sophomore Morgan Murphy (Yardley, Pa., Villa Joseph Marie) and junioer Lauren Gross (Lewisburg, Pa., Lewisburg) had three saves each. Murphy has 45 saves so far this season. Gross's three saves tonight is a season high. 

Westminster outshot Alfred 11-8 and had the edge in shots on goal (8-7). Westminster also had more corner kicks than Alfred (8-2)

Westminster will host Geneva in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match at the UPMC Sports Complex on Wednesday. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
