Women's soccer earns road shutout

GREENVILLE, Pa.--The Westminster College women's soccer team earned a 2-0 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) shutout at Thiel Saturday afternoon. 

Westminster ran its record to 13-3 overall and 7-2 in the league. Thiel fell to 1-12-1 overall and 0-8 in the PAC. 

Despite Westminster's 18-0 advantage in shots and 11-0 edge in corner kicks in the opening half, the teams went into the break scoreless.   

Freshman Chloe LaRosa (Tyrone, Pa., Tyrone) put Westminster on the board in the 49th minute, scoring off of an assist from sophomore Ashley Horvath (Houston, Pa., Charters-Houston). The goal was LaRosa's 16th of the year. 

Freshman Jocelyn Gratchic (Connellsville, Pa., Connellsville) found the back of the net in the 59th minute off of an assist from junior Brooke Horvath (Murrysville, Pa., Franklin Regional). It was second goal this season. 

Sophomore Morgan Murphy (Yardley, Pa., Villa Joseph Marie) and junior Lauren Gross (Lewisburg, Pa., Lewisburg) shared the shutout. It was the Titans' seventh shutout this season. 

Twenty-eight players appeared for Westminster Saturday.

The Titans finished the match with a 35-0 advatange in shots and a 10-0 edge in shots on goal. Westminster took 14 corner kicks while Thiel did not attempt one. 

Westminster will close its regular season Wednesday against Bethany. Kickoff at the UPMC Sports Complex is scheduled for 5 p.m.
