Titans top Golden Tornadoes 8-1

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College women's tennis team scored an 8-1 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over Geneva Monday afternoon. 

Westminster improved to 8-2 overall and 4-1 in the conference. Geneva fell to 2-7 overall and 1-6 in the PAC. Westminster has now won 17-straight matches against Geneva.

Sophomore Christine Rossi (Jefferson Hills, Pa., Thomas Jefferson) and junior Gia Francisco (Canfield, Ohio, Canfield) improved to 6-2 this season with an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles. Senior Caroline Fox (Acton, Calif., Vasquez) and junior Ryleigh Valone (Erie, Pa., Villa Maria Academy) earned an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles. Freshman Emma Overlingas (Pittsburgh, Pa., Baldwin) and junior Taylor Dlugozima(Volant, Pa., Wilmington) pushed their season record to 6-0 overall and 5-0 in the league after they scored an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles.

Francisco won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and Rossi claimed a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles. Valone won 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 3 singles to move to 7-2 this season. Fox rolled in a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles to improve to 9-1. Overlingas scored a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles to move to 9-1. She has won eight-straight matches. 

Westminster hosts a PAC match against Thiel Tuesday. The match will begin at 3:30 p.m.
