Lampus, Ferringer key pivotal PAC win

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--Senior Lauren Lampus (Sarver, Pa., Freeport) and junior Ava Ferringer (Venus, Pa., Cranberry) helped lead the Westminster College women's volleyball team to a 3-1 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over Chatham Wednesday night at Ron Galbreath Court inside Buzz Ridl Gymnasium.

Westminster won the opening set 25-22 before Chatham rallied for a 26-24 second set win. Westminster secured a 27-25 third set win before edging Chatham 25-19 in the fourth. 

Westminster improved to 13-10 overall and 3-3 in the PAC. Chatham fell to 12-5 overall and 4-1 in the league. The Cougars were riding a program best eight-match win streak before the setback. 

Lampus had a season-high 18 kills on .246 hitting and added seven digs. Ferringer finished with a career-high 13 kills and nine digs. 

Ferringer finished with four kills and five digs in the first set while Lampus had six kills in the third. Westminster, leading 2-1, hit .386 in the fourth set to earn the win. Lampus finished with seven kills and Ferringer added a pair in the deciding set. 

Sophomore Rachel Brady (Columbus, Pa., Corry) finished with nine kills, seven digs and four blocks. Senior Saylee Grinnen (Wampum, Pa., Ellwood City) had six kills and two blocks while sophomore Shelby Rambo (East Palestine, Ohio, Crestview) totaled four kills, two digs and eight blocks. Senior Malia Duffy (Allison Park, Pa., North Allegheny) had 27 digs and senior Claire Tobin (Battlecreek, Mich., Lakeview) chipped in with 15 digs. Sophomore Angie Nardone (Ellwood City, Pa., Ellwood City) finished with a 17-assist, 16-dig double-double while senior Reanna Daniels (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) tallied a 15-assist, 16-dig double-double. 

Westminster had a 12-6 advantage in blocks and made 14 fewer errors. 

Alyssa Leskovac led Chatham with 12 kills and 24 digs. Amelia Bogovich added 11 kills and six digs. 

Westminster will travel to defending PAC champion Bethany Saturday for a 1 p.m. match at Joe Kurey Memorial Court in Hummel Field House.
