Westminster falls in five to Waynesburg

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College women's volleyball team suffered a five-set Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss to Waynesburg Thursday night at Ron Galbreath Court inside Buzz Ridl Gymnasium.

Waynesburg improved to 8-10 overall and 1-2 in the PAC with the win. It was the program's first over Westminster since a 3-0 PAC Championship Tournament semifinal victory at Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse on Nov. 4, 2005. Westminster fell to 12-8 overall and 2-2 in the league. 

Westminster jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a 25-20 first set win. Waynesburg responded with a 26-24 win in the second to even the match before the Titans grabbed a 2-1 lead with a 25-12 third set victory. Waynesburg took the fourth set 25-23 before earning the 15-13 fifth set win. 

Sophomore Rachel Brady (Columbus, Pa., Corry) led the Titans with a 13-kill, 10-dig double-double. It was her fourth of the season. She added a pair of service aces. Senior Lauren Lampus (Sarver, Pa., Freeport) finished with eight kills and 18 digs while senior Natalie Franke (Centerville, Pa., Union City) added nine kills. Senior Saylee Grinnen (Wampum, Pa., Ellwood City) totaled five blocks and four kills. Senior Reanna Daniels (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) and sophomore Angie Nardone (Ellwood City, Pa., Ellwood City) both had double-doubles: Daniels finished with 20 assists and a career-best 16 digs while Nardone had 15 assists and a career-high 23 digs. Senior Malia Duffy (Allison Park, Pa., North Allegheny) finished with 28 digs and six assists. 

Junior Emma Hyatt and sophomore Paige Mortimore led the Yellow Jackets with 15 kills each. Freshman Kristina Zadrozny added 13 kills. 

Westminster is back in action Saturday in Meadville. The Titans will face host Allegheny at the David V. Wise Center at 11 a.m. before taking on Wooster at 1 p.m.
