UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Westminster College women's soccer team commenced the 2022 campaign by playing to a 2-all stalemate with John Carroll University Thursday night at Don Shula Stadium.
The teams were tied at 1 at intermission, and each squad scored once during the second half.
Sophomore Allie Augustine (Cortland, Ohio/Lakeview High) and Mackenzie Powell (Harrison City, Pa./Penn Trafford High) tallied Titans' goals and sophomore Natalie Vilchek (West Newton, Pa./Yough High) was credited with both assists.
Emily Patrzyk and Bailey Brown scored goals for JCU (0-0-1).
Westminster out-shot John Carroll, 15-13 – 11-5 during the second half – and owned a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
For Westminster (0-0-1) first-year Morgan Murphy made 9 saves in goal, while Mackenzie Stease and Juliana Kontul split time in goal for Hiram and were credited with 5 and 3 saves, respectively.
