PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Westminster women's lacrosse team lost, 14-4, at Chatham in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest on Friday.
"I just think we need to value possessions," said head coach
Bethany Snider. "We played a lot of defense tonight - and well. But we need to start capitalizing on every offensive possession. Steph getting carded out early in the second quarter hurt tonight and we need everyone ready to step up, be coachable, and capitalize."
Chatham (5-2, 2-0 PAC) held a slight 2-1 lead after the first quarter. Two-straight goals by Westminster (2-4, 0-2 PAC) in the second quarter cut the Cougars' lead to 4-3. Chatham, however, outscored the Titans 10-1 for the remainder of the game.
Four different Titans scored: junior
Stephanie Cimini (Mars, PA / Mars Area), sophomore
Nina Rascona (Somerset, PA / Somerset Area), senior
Magen Polczynski (Irwin, PA / Norwin), and junior
Emiley Kushner (Cecil, PA / Canon-McMillan).
Rascona and Polczynski led the Titans with six ground balls each. Polczynski also had team-highs in caused turnovers (3) and draw controls (5). The Titans edged the Cougars in draw controls, 12-10.
Titan senior goalkeeper
Emma Bradley (South Fayette, PA / South Fayette) collected 10 saves in the complete-game effort.
The Titans are back on the field Saturday, April 9 at Saint Vincent with a 4 p.m. start.
