NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster men's tennis team shut out Thiel in its Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener at home Wednesday.
Titan first-year
Ellian Ascencio (Venetia, PA / Peters Township) defeated Nathaniel Udell, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1 singles. Ascencio also teamed up with junior
Sam Scotford (Poland, OH / Poland Seminary) for an 8-1 at No. 1 doubles over Eli Flinchbaugh and Haruto Kuroda.
Westminster (6-1, 1-0 PAC) has now won six-straight matches. The Tomcats dropped to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in league play.
"Considering the lack of consistent practices outside, it was great to see both teams compete as well as they did," said head coach
Jeff Layman. "It's always good to get off to a positive start within the PAC."
The Titans are back on the court at Washington and Jefferson on Saturday, April 2, starting at 1 p.m.
