NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Allie Augustine tallied twice and Morgan Murphy pitched the shutout, as Westminster College women's soccer squad blanked Chatham University, 3-0.
In a Saturday matinee at the UPMC Complex, Augustine (Cortland, Ohio/Lakeview High), a sophomore forward, scored at the 45:15 and 81:35 junctures. She was assisted by sophomore midfielder Natalie Vilchek (West Newton, Pa./Yough High) and first-year forward Amanda Lewis (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock High), respectively.
The Titans of taskmaster Girish Thakar took a 1-0 lead at the 11:03 mark on Lewis' goal off a feed from Augustine.
Murphy (Yardley, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie), the first-year sensation, made 6 saves in goal. Westminster outshot Chatham, 16-12 (7-6 in shots on goal). It was the 5th shutout of the season for Westminster (4-0-0 PAC, 8-2-1 overall).
For Chatham's Cougars (1-1-2 PAC, 5-3-2 overall), goalkeeper Hannah Ehrlich ended with 4 saves.
Westminster, which has won 4 consecutive contests and 7 of its last 8 outings, will welcome Franciscan University for a PAC match Wednesday, Oct. 5, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
