NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster men's basketball team lost, 71-60, to Chatham in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action at home Thursday night.
Chatham (8-1, 3-1 PAC) took a double-digit lead at 18-8 with 12:32 remaining in the first half. Westminster (6-5, 3-2 PAC) responded with a three by senior
Daniel Ritter (North Lima, OH / South Range) to cut the Cougars' lead to single-digits (18-11). Chatham regained its double-digit lead and led 40-21 at halftime.
The Titans came out in the second half ablaze with a 14-4 run, capped off by a layup from senior
Josh Hutcherson (Uniontown, OH / Uniontown Lake) to cut Chatham's lead to single digits at 44-35. Westminster continued to battle and got within six points (52-46) with less than 10 minutes to go, following a three by sophomore
Andrew Clark (New Middletown, OH / Springfield Local). The Cougars, however, would not let the Titans get any closer for the rest of the game.
Four Titans scored in double-digits, led by D. Ritter with 16 points. Clark scored 15, while senior
Anthony Ritter (North Lima, OH / South Range) and junior
Tyler James (Youngstown, OH / Warren JFK) each had 10. Hutcherson rounded out the Westminster scoring with nine points. James led Westminster on the glass with eight rebounds. D. Ritter and junior
Jordan Zupko (Mineral Ridge, OH / Mineral Ridge) each had seven boards (career-high for Zupko). A. Ritter dished out a team-high four assists, while Zupko pocketed a team-best two steals. For the game, Westminster outrebounded Chatham, 45-39.
Westminster's next scheduled game is set for Wednesday, Jan. 12 at PAC foe Saint Vincent with a start time of 8 p.m.
