NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster men's basketball team won, 91-79, against Franciscan at home in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action Tuesday evening.
Three Titans scored at least 20 points with senior
Anthony Ritter (North Lima, OH / South Range) leading the charge with 24. Junior
Tyler James (Youngstown, OH / Warren JFK) registered a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds, his 15
th career and third this season. Senior
Daniel Ritter (North Lima, OH / South Range) registered 20 points. Sophomore
Andrew Clark (New Middletown, OH / Springfield Local) registered 13 rebounds and six steals (both game- and career-highs). D. Ritter and senior
Josh Hutcherson (Uniontown, OH / Uniontown Lake) were both a rebound away from a double-double. A. Ritter dished out a game-high six assists, tying a career-high.
The first half consisted of seven lead changes and six ties. Tied 11-11 six minutes into the first half, Westminster (6-4, 3-1 PAC) went on a 5-0 run to take a 16-11 lead. Franciscan (3-7, 1-3 PAC) tied it four times, however, the Titans did not trail for the remainder of the half and led 46-40 at intermission. James and A. Ritter both led Westminster with 12 points at the break.
The Titans came out in the second half with an offensive force and had their first double-digit lead up 66-55, following a three by Clark with 11:40 left. The Barons cut Westminster's lead to single-digits four times with the latest at 73-71 with 6:13 to play. The Titans did not let the Barons get any closer, regaining their double-digit lead at 84-73 and maintaining it for the rest of the game.
For the game, Westminster out-rebounded Franciscan, 56-39
Westminster is back on the court Thursday, Jan. 6 as it hosts PAC foe Chatham at 8 p.m.
