Women’s Basketball: Titans Handle Barons, Win Third-Straight PAC Game

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster women's basketball team won, 55-35, at home against Franciscan in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup on Monday night.

Near the end of the first quarter, Westminster (5-5, 3-1 PAC) scored six of the last eight points to take a 16-11, capped by a layup from junior Natalie Murrio (Pittsburgh, PA / Brentwood). The Titans started the second quarter on a 7-0 run and captured their first double-digit lead of the game (21-11) with 8:57 left in the first half. At intermission, Westminster held a commanding 32-17 lead.

The Titan defense was stifling in the third quarter as they only allowed Franciscan (0-11, 0-5 PAC) to score four points. Westminster grew its lead to 49-21, heading into the final quarter and held the lead for the remainder of the game.

The Titans were led by junior Camden Hergenrother (Salem, OH / Cardinal Mooney), who scored a team-best 17 points, to go with four rebounds, four steals, and three assists. Murrio recorded 11 points, four boards, three assists, and one block. Senior Magen Polczynski (Irwin, PA / Norwin) registered ten points, a season-high eight rebounds, five steals (tied a career-high), and two assists. First-year Alaina Moore (Weirton, WV / Madonna) tallied a career-high eight rebounds.

The Titans' next game is scheduled for Wednesday, January 12 as they face Saint Vincent on the road in a PAC contest. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
