STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - The Westminster volleyball team won both of their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matches, including their PAC-opener, at the Franciscan Tri-Match on Saturday.

Westminster (9-2, 2-0 PAC) blanked its first opponent, Franciscan (1-3, 0-2), by the score of 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-7). Senior Maya Steward (Los Angeles, CA / William Howard Taft) led the charge with eight kills and a career-high of five service aces. Junior Kaylee Sciubba (Tarentum, PA / Deer Lakes) added a strong defensive presence with six blocks (her season-high). The offensive showcase flowed from a match-high 16 assists from senior Samantha Kelly (Irwin, PA / Penn-Trafford).

The Titans defeated their second opponent, the Thiel Tomcats (1-10, 1-1 PAC), by the score of 3-2 (25-18, 29-31, 25-11, 24-26, 15-11). In the hard-fought conference bout, Westminster held off Thiel in the fifth set and won the match with sophomore Lauren Lampus (Sarver, PA / Freeport Area) knocking down the kill after receiving a pass from Kelly. Lampus registered 18 kills and five service aces (career-highs in both categories), followed by Steward with a season-high 16 kills. Senior Becky Adelman's (Randolph, OH / Waterloo) match-high of five blocks and Steward's 21 digs (a season-high) contributed to the defensive performance. Kelly dished out a career-high of 48 assists.

The Titans are back on the court Wednesday, September 22 as they host a tri-match for their home-opener. Westminster plays Geneva at 4 p.m. and Grove City at 8 p.m.
