WAYNESBURG, Pa. - The Westminster women's lacrosse team led start to finish in a 19-7 win Wednesday evening at Waynesburg University.
Westminster (1-4, 1-1 PAC) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first half with the first goal of the game coming from sophomore
Stephanie Cimini (Mars, PA / Mars Area) in the first minute. The Titans tallied 11 more goals in the first half and headed into halftime up 14-2. The Titans came out of halftime with two early goals, courtesy of first-year
Samantha Reed (Zionsville, PA / Emmaus) and sophomore
Emiley Kushner (Cecil, PA / Canon-McMillan). Waynesburg (0-6, 0-2 PAC) scored four-straight goals in the second half, but Westminster fired back with back-to-back goals.
Cimini led the team with a career- and game-high 10 points, including a career- and game-high eight goals. Senior
Matalyn Holland (Pittsburgh, PA / Shaler Area) and
Marisa Keller (Canonsburg, PA / Canon-McMillan) also tacked on four and three goals, respectively. Junior goalkeeper
Emma Bradley (South Fayette, PA / South Fayette) made 10 saves in the win.
The Yellow Jackets were led by Eve O'Sullivan who recorded three goals.
Westminster will next host Washington and Jefferson on Saturday, April 10 at 1 p.m.
