BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The No. 4 Westminster men's soccer team won, 7-6, in penalty kicks over top seed Geneva in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Semifinals Tuesday night.
 
Titan junior Sam Accordino (Canfield, OH / Canfield) showed off his arms as he scored the first goal of the game with an incredible throw-in at the 15:56 mark of the first half. Accordino, one of the anchors of Westminster's backline, tossed the ball in from 20 yards out for his first goal of the season and first since his first year. Geneva (8-1-1) tied it, 1-1, after Carnel Kerr found Zach O'Connor for the equalizer at the 33:58 mark in the same half.
 
Westminster (5-4-1) outshot Geneva, 15-1, in the second half, however was unable to score the go-ahead goal in regulation bringing on extra minutes with the game tied 1-1. Both teams continued to battle in the extra periods, however neither team scored the golden goal forcing penalty kicks.
 
In the best of five penalty kicks, the Titans' first four attempts were successful, courtesy of (in order of made PKs) junior Adam Saunders (Ellwood City, PA / Riverside), Accordino, junior Logan Mannheimer (South Park, PA / South Park), and senior Nick Iregui (Gig Harbor, WA / Charles Wright Academy). Geneva had a chance to win following a Geneva save by Nate Burkhart, however, the ensuing Golden Tornadoes' kick went too high, extending the game to sudden death PKs. The first three Titans, juniors Noah Weiss (South Park, PA / South Park), Tyler Caterino (Monessen, PA / Monessen), and Nate Taylor (Pittsburgh, PA / Keystone Oaks), took care of business with successful shots putting the pressure on Geneva. Taylor's successful kick proved to be the difference as Geneva's following attempt soared high.
 
Titan sophomore goalie Jad Jadallah (Canfield, OH / Canfield) earned the win, collecting one save, in a complete game effort.
 
The Titans will travel to Washington, Pa. to face No. 3 Washington & Jefferson (6-2-1) for the PAC Title on Friday, April 30 at 7 p.m. The Presidents topped No. 2 Grove City, 2-1, in the other PAC Semifinal game.
