Men’s Soccer: Titans Finish Runner-up at PAC Tournament

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The No. 4-seeded Westminster men's soccer team lost, 2-1, at third-seed Washington & Jefferson in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship game on Friday.

Westminster got on the board first after junior Tyler Caterino (Monessen, PA / Monessen) received a pass from sophomore Payton Goodwin (Pittsburgh, PA / Plum) in the box off a deflection from a free kick and drilled the ball to the back of the net at the 14:55 mark of the first half.

Washington & Jefferson (8-2-1, 6-2-1 PAC) tied the game in the final minutes of the first half (42:41) off the foot of Thomas Einolf and the score was tied, 1-1, at halftime.

Both teams continued to battle in the second half. With less than 10 minutes remaining, W&J's Joey Feola found Zach Bowser for the eventual game-winning goal. The Titans had an opportunity with less than a minute to go off a corner kick by senior Nick Iregui (Gig Harbor, WA / Charles Wright Academy) followed by a header by first-year David Stuebgen (Freedom, PA / Ambridge Area) that just went high over the crossbar.

Westminster outshot W&J, 23-11, including 7-4 on-goal. Junior Logan Mannheimer (South Park, PA / South Park) connected on a game-high three shots-on-goal. The Titans also had the advantage in corner kicks, 8-1.

Titan sophomore goalkeeper Jad Jadallah (Canfield, OH / Canfield) collected two saves in a complete-game effort.

The Titans, under 23rd-year Head Coach Girish Thakar, finished the season 5-5-1 overall with a 5-4-0 conference record. Westminster earned its third Championship trip in the past six seasons.
