BETHANY W.V. – The Westminster College men's and women's cross country teams traveled to West Virginia to compete in the Bethany College Invitational on Saturday for their second event of the season.
The Titan women placed third out of seven teams with a score of 83 points and a total time of 1:47.48. The men competed as individuals.
For the women, senior
Erin Ward (Euclid, OH / Lake Catholic) led the way with a personal-best 5k time of 19:57, good enough to tie for third-place in the 54-runner field.
Senior
Marie Barnard (Millerstown, PA / Greenwood) was the next best finisher for the Titans, placing 18
th with a personal-best time of 21:19, while classmate
Breanna Ferguson (Saegertown, PA / Saegertown) tied for 19
th place with a personal-best mark of 21:29. Fellow senior
Allison Hampton (Ten Sleep, WY / Ten Sleep) finished in 21
st place with a time of 21:36. Sophomore
Sadie Cunningham (Webster, NY / Webster Thomas) finished 36
th with a personal-best time of 23:27. Rounding out the finishers for the Westminster women was junior
Kelly Somora (Grove City, Pa / Grove City Area) who finished 47
th with a time of 25:37.
The Titan men were led by graduate student
Evan Vent (Pittsburgh, PA / South Fayette), who finished 30
th with a time of 18:14. Junior
Nathan Kraus (New Castle, PA / Shenango) placed 36
th with a time of 18:37 and senior
Harrison Keenan (Cranberry, PA / Cranberry) placed 40
th with a personal-best time of 18:58. Sophomore
Ian Jackson (Neshannock, PA / Neshannock) rounded out the male runners for Westminster, coming in 47
th place with a time of 19:29.
Westminster will be back on the course on Saturday, March 20 when it returns to Bethany for the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship meet.
