NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College softball team swept the Grove City College Wolverines on the road Saturday to remain undefeated on the season. The Titans shut out the Wolverines in game one by a score of 7-0 and claimed game two, 10-7.
In game one, Westminster (10-0) plated the first run of the contest when sophomore
Leah Pancake (North Lima, OH / Beaver Local) connected on an RBI triple in the first inning to give the Titans a 1-0 lead. Westminster got some insurance in the bottom of the third, as sophomore
Mackenzie Latess (New Castle, PA / Laurel) blasted a two-RBI home run to left field to increase their lead to 3-0 and cruised the rest of the way without giving up a run.

Brooke Atkins (New Castle, PA / Laurel) led with a game-high three hits in game one, while senior
Haley Bedalota (Aliquippa, PA / Hopewell) notched a pair of base knocks. Atkins had a game-high three runs scored and Bedalota tied a game-high with two RBIs. Junior
Madison Brown (Lisbon, OH / East Liverpool) dazzled in the circle, tossing a complete game shutout with only five hits and seven strikeouts.
In game two, Westminster again stormed out to a big lead, this time to the tune of seven runs over the first five innings to hold a 7-0 lead over Grove City (3-5) with just two innings to play. However, the Wolverines utilized a six-run sixth inning to put themselves right back in the contest, trailing 7-6. The Titans immediately responded with three runs in the sixth inning to put an end to the Wolverine threat and close out the contest.
Pancake led the way in game two, notching game-highs with three hits and three runs scored and tied a team-high with a pair of RBIs. Senior
Victoria Pezzuolo (New Castle, PA / Mohawk) and Latess each tallied a pair of hits, while Pezzuolo notched two RBIs. First-year
Elizabeth Malczak (Grove City, PA / Grove City) got the win in the circle after going 6.1 innings and scattering nine hits and three runs (one earned).
Westminster will be back in action on Tuesday, March 23 when it is on their home field again for a contest against the Waynesburg University Yellow Jackets for a doubleheader starting at 3:30 p.m.
