NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster men's lacrosse team won their third-straight game with a 15-14 victory in a showdown with Chatham under the lights of UPMC Sports Complex Wednesday night.
The game was knotted up at 13 with four minutes left in the game. Sophomore
Hamish Mathwin (Marion, Australia / Westminster) put Westminster (3-1) in front after receiving a pass from classmate
Ryan Greer (Cranberry Twp, PA / Seneca Valley) and putting the ball in the back of the net with 2:39 on the clock. Mathwin added an important insurance goal, with senior
Shane Fisher (Palm Harbor, FL / East Lake) earning the assist, extending the Titans' lead to 15-13 with 19 seconds left. Chatham (2-1) made it interesting with a goal with 11 seconds remaining.

Payton Waight (Ithaca, NY / Ithaca) scored a team- and career high five goals and added a pair of assists for a team- and career-high seven points. Waight is now tied for a team-best 14 points on the young season. Also scoring a hat trick for the Titans were junior
Joe Rosa (Newton, NJ / Kittatinny Regional) and sophomore

Boyd Foster (Lincoln, RI / Lincoln) each registered a goal. Greer dished out a game- and career-high four assists.
Westminster jumped out to an early 3-0 lead with eight minutes to play in the first quarter. The Titans led 3-1 after one. The Titans had their largest lead of four twice in the second, with the latest coming at 7-3, courtesy of a goal by Fisher, with 3:33 left in the first half. The Cougars, however, scored two unanswered goals to finish out the first half, cutting Westminster's lead to 7-5.
Chatham continued its momentum in the third quarter, outscoring the Titans 5-2 in the frame. The Cougars took their first lead of the game at 9-8 with an unassisted goal by Riley Lewis with 2:57 on the clock. The Cougars led 10-8, following a 4-0 run, before Rosa found Waight for a score with 17 seconds left and Chatham led 10-9 going into the final frame. In the fourth, Foster quickly tied the game at 10 (Greer with the assist), less than a minute in. The Titans tied the game twice more before regaining the lead (13-12) when Rosa found Waight with five minutes remaining. The Cougars managed to tie the game at 13, before Mathwin's back-to-back goals.

Mike Roman (Fort Washington, PA / Germantown Academy) with nine. Roman, Greer, and senior
Jack Granahan (Aldie, VA / John Champe) led the Titan defense with three caused turnovers each. Junior goalkeeper
Ben Romah (Coraopolis, PA / Moon Area) earned the first win of his career as he closed out the game in the fourth and earned a save.
The Titans are back in action Sunday, March 21 at home against Thiel with a 1 p.m. start time.
