Volleyball: Titans' Topple Bison in Four Sets

BETHANY, W.Va. - The Westminster College volleyball team defeated Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Bethany College by a score of 3-1 (25-17, 22-25, 25-21, 25-12) on the road Wednesday evening.

Westminster (5-1, 5-0 PAC) was led by junior Maya Steward (Los Angeles, CA / William Howard Taft), who slammed down 13 kills and corralled a game-high 17 digs. Sophomore Kaylee Sciubba (Tarentum, PA / Deer Lakes) had 10 kills, while junior Becky Adelman (Randolph, OH / Waterloo) followed with nine kills. First-year Lauren Lampus (Sarver, PA / Freeport Area) earned eight kills. Junior Samantha Kelly (Irwin, PA / Penn-Trafford) dished out a team-high 23 assists, while sophomore Isabelle Snyder (Centerville, PA / Maplewood) followed with 18 assists. Snyder also was second on the team with 14 digs. Sciubba had a team-high four blocks (tied a game-high) followed by senior Megan Steele (Corry, PA / Corry) with a pair of blocks.

Westminster and Bethany (1-3, 1-3 PAC) started the first set with a close score of 13-13 before Westminster went on to score six consecutive points (19-13). The first match concluded with a 25-17 Westminster victory. In the second set, Bethany beat the Titans by a close 25-22 victory. The third set was another close one as Westminster claimed it by a 25-21 victory with Lampus earning the final kill. The Titans dominated the fourth set, earning a 25-12 victory to seal the match.

Westminster will be back on their home court on Saturday, March 20 against Saint Vincent College with a start time of 12 p.m.
