NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster men's basketball team won, 75-70, over Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Geneva in overtime at home Saturday.
Sophomore guard
Reese Leone (Beloit, OH / West Branch) led Westminster (5-3, 2-1 PAC) with a career-high 24 points, including a game- and career-best five three-pointers. Also scoring in double-digits for the Titans were senior guards
Daniel Ritter (North Lima, OH / South Range) and
Anthony Ritter (North Lima, OH / South Range) with 16 and 15 points, respectively. D. Ritter notched his second double-double of the season as he grabbed 10 boards, to go along with his game- and career-high six assists. Junior
Tyler James (Youngstown, OH / Warren JFK) was dominant in the paint with team-highs in rebounds (12) and blocks (3), while scoring seven points. Senior forward
Josh Hutcherson (Uniontown, OH / Uniontown Lake) added nine points and nine rebounds.
Geneva (4-3, 2-1 PAC) had its largest lead of the first half up 25-18 with less than eight minutes remaining. The Titans responded with a 21-2 run for the rest of the frame to take a commanding 39-27 lead at intermission. The Titans had a double-digit lead multiple times in the second half, with the latest at 66-56 with 3:36 left. The Golden Tornadoes, however, forced overtime, while outscoring the Titans 10-0 for the remainder of regulation. In overtime, Geneva continued its momentum and led 70-66, its first two-score lead since the opening half, with 3:11 on the clock. The Titans, however, shut out the Golden Tornadoes the rest of the way as they scored nine unanswered points to seal the PAC win.
The Titans are back on the court next Saturday, Dec. 18 at Division I Youngstown State. Tip-off is set for 12 p.m.
