WOOSTER, Ohio – The Westminster women's basketball team lost, 70-40, on the road in the final day of The College of Wooster Tip-Off against Hanover on Sunday.
In the first quarter, Hanover (2-1) gained the early advantage as it led 11-6 with 5:33 to play. The Panthers extended their lead to 21-6, as they scored ten consecutive points with 1:42 remaining. At the end of the first, Hanover held a 21-10 lead. The Panthers continued to ride their momentum in the second quarter to take a 38-25 lead into intermission.
As the second half started, Westminster (2-1) was determined to fight back, but was halted by Hanover. With the third quarter ending, the Panthers led 57-30. Hanover's momentum going into the fourth quarter, helped guide them to a victory over the Titans.
The Titans were led by junior
Natalie Murrio (Pittsburgh, PA / Brentwood) with 12 points, two rebounds, and one assist, followed by junior
Lindsay Bell (Youngstown, OH / Ursuline) who tallied eight points and a tied a game-best eight boards. Sophomore
Kaitlyn Hildebran (Hadley, PA / Commodore Perry) finished with seven points and two rebounds.
Westminster shot 20.8% (11-53) from the field and 77.3% (17-22) from the charity stripe.
Murrio was named on the All-Tournament Team.
The Titans are back in action Wednesday, December 1 as they host Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Washington & Jefferson. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
