NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster men's basketball team won, 98-83, at home against Penn State Shenango in the final day of the Buzz Ridl Classic on Saturday night.

Westminster (2-0) was able to jump out to an early 5-0 lead off a two-point jumper from senior Daniel Ritter (North Lima, OH / South Range) and then a three-pointer from his brother, senior Anthony Ritter (North Lima, OH / South Range). Halfway through the first half leading 18-17, Westminster was able to gain control as it would score 13 of the next 15 points (31-19), capped off by a three-pointer from junior Jordan Zupko (Mineral Ridge, OH / Mineral Ridge), who notched three three-pointers in the first half – a career-high. The Titans were able to ride the momentum to collect a 44-36 lead at halftime.

With 14:36 to play in the second half (51-47), the Titans would go on a 20-3 run to collect their biggest lead of the game (21 points) with the score 71-50. The momentum from Westminster's run was too much for Penn State Shenango (2-4) to handle as the Titans would coast to a 98-83 victory.

D. Ritter registered a double-double with a team-high 27 points and tied a game-best 13 rebounds, followed by sophomore Reese Leone (Beloit, OH / West Branch) with 16 points, five assists, and five steals. Junior Tyler James (Youngstown, OH / Warren JFK) tallied a double-double as well with 13 points and 13 boards. Senior Josh Hutcherson (Uniontown, OH / Uniontown Lake) got in the action with ten points, 11 boards and four assists.

Westminster shot 43.5% (30-69) from the field, 42.3% (11-26) from beyond the arc, and 77.1% (27-35) from the charity stripe.

The Titans are back in action Wednesday, November 17 as they host Kenyon. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
