NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster men's basketball team won, 98-83, at home against Penn State Shenango in the final day of the Buzz Ridl Classic on Saturday night.
Westminster (2-0) was able to jump out to an early 5-0 lead off a two-point jumper from senior
Daniel Ritter (North Lima, OH / South Range) and then a three-pointer from his brother, senior
Anthony Ritter (North Lima, OH / South Range). Halfway through the first half leading 18-17, Westminster was able to gain control as it would score 13 of the next 15 points (31-19), capped off by a three-pointer from junior
Jordan Zupko (Mineral Ridge, OH / Mineral Ridge), who notched three three-pointers in the first half – a career-high. The Titans were able to ride the momentum to collect a 44-36 lead at halftime.
With 14:36 to play in the second half (51-47), the Titans would go on a 20-3 run to collect their biggest lead of the game (21 points) with the score 71-50. The momentum from Westminster's run was too much for Penn State Shenango (2-4) to handle as the Titans would coast to a 98-83 victory.
