NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster volleyball team shut out Franciscan, 3-0, at home in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest Saturday afternoon.
The shutout marked the Titans' 17
th this season and sixth of their last seven matches.
The Titans improved to 23-4 overall and a perfect 15-0 in the conference. The Barons dropped to 3-15 overall and 2-14 in the PAC.
Westminster won the first set, 25-17, the second 25-9, and the third, 25-23.
Senior
Becky Adelman (Randolph, OH / Waterloo) registered a team-high 8.5 points, including seven kills and three block assists. Senior
Maya Steward (Los Angeles, CA / William Howard Taft) and sophomore
Lauren Lampus (Sarver, PA / Freeport Area) each had seven kills as well. Steward also led the defense with a match-high 19 digs. Senior
Samantha Kelly (Irwin, PA / Penn-Trafford) dished out a match-high 23 assists, to go along a match-best three aces. Sophomore
Saylee Grinnen (Wampum, PA / Lincoln) notched a match- and career-high five blocks. Junior
Kaylee Sciubba (Tarentum, PA / Deer Lakes) added three blocks. Also earning double-digit digs was sophomore
Malia Duffy (Allison Park, PA / North Allegheny) with 16.
The Titans are back on the court Tuesday, Oct. 26 with a road match at Grove City, starting at 6:30 p.m.
