BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Westminster volleyball team swept Geneva on the road Thursday night to extend their winning streak to ten and remain undefeated in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) competition.
Down 20-16 in the first set, Westminster (22-4, 14-0 PAC) executed a 7-0 run to take the lead (23-20). The Titans were able to win the first set (25-22) off a kill from junior
Kaylee Sciubba (Tarentum, PA / Deer Lakes). The Titans led 17-14 before scoring seven of the next eight points to take control (24-15), senior
Samantha Kelly (Irwin, PA / Penn-Trafford) sealed the second set victory (25-16) with a kill. During the final set, when the Titans faced adversity once again down 17-13, they stepped up and scored 11 of the next 14 points (24-20). Senior
Becky Adelman (Randolph, OH / Waterloo) secured the sweep with a kill (25-21).
Adelman led the Titans with a team-high 12 kills, followed by classmate
Maya Steward (Los Angeles, CA / William Howard Taft) with ten. Sophomore
Malia Duffy (Allison Park, PA / North Allegheny) registered a career-high five service aces and a team-best 17 digs. Kelly contributed a match-high 31 assists.
The Titans are back in action Saturday, October 23 as they host Franciscan in a PAC contest. Start time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
