NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster men's soccer team won, 2-1, against Grove City in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) showdown at home Wednesday night.
Westminster (9-5, 5-0 PAC) struck first as senior
Tyler Caterino (Monessen, PA / Monessen) scored his seventh goal of the season off a dish from graduate student
Nick Iregui (Gig Harbor, WA / Charles Wright Academy) in the 7
th minute. As the first half continued, Grove City (6-7, 4-1 PAC) tied it up at one when Chris Delucia found the back of the net. At intermission, neither team could salvage a lead with the score 1-1.
In the start of the second half, both defenses held their own until senior
Zac Marzula (Wexford, PA / North Allegheny) blasted his second goal of season in the 60
th minute, also registering his first career game-winning goal.
Titan junior goalkeeper
Jad Jadallah (Canfield, OH / Canfield) tallied six saves and earned the win in a complete-game effort.
Westminster outshot Grove City (12-11) and bested them in shots-on-goal (10-7).
The Titans are back in action Saturday, October 16 as they travel to Waynesburg, Pa. to compete against PAC foe, Waynesburg. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
