WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster women's tennis team lost, 5-4, at Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Washington & Jefferson, their first loss of the season.
Washington & Jefferson (6-2, 5-1 PAC) won the first three singles, however, Westminster (8-1, 5-1 PAC) won the next two as sophomore
Caroline Fox (Acton, CA / Vasquez) won, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3, at No. 4 and first-year
Ryleigh Valone (Erie, PA / Villa Maria Academy) won, 7-6, 6-3 (7-5), at No. 5.
Fox partnered with junior
Sabrina Slagle (Upper St. Clair, PA / Upper St. Clair) for a hard-fought 8-7 (7-4) No. 2 doubles victory. Valone and classmate
Taylor Dlugozima (Volant, PA / Wilmington) took care of business at No. 3 doubles, winning 8-1.
Westminster will conclude its PAC slate on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at Franciscan who is currently first in the PAC at 6-0. Match time is set for 5:30 p.m.
