Westminster College's 1976 and 1977 NAIA Division II National Championship football teams will be honored with the Ellis Hoffman Team Award at the Lawrence County Sports Hall of Fame with the class of 2020 on Sunday, April 26.
The 1976 team won the championship with a record of 10-1. The 1977 championship team was undefeated at 11-0. The teams completed the 1977 season with a 20-game winning streak, the longest streak in the nation at that time. The 1977 team also was awarded the Lambert Cup, signifying the best small college team in the East.
The teams will be honored at the Hall of Fame banquet on Sunday, April 26 at 1 PM (doors open at noon) at the New Englander Banquet Center in New Castle, PA.
