CLERMONT, Fla. – The Westminster College softball team continued their 2020 season at The Spring Games on Thursday. The Titans lost the first game, 17-2, in six innings, against Haverford College. They dropped the second game of the double header as well, falling to Marietta University, by a narrow margin of 3-2.

Krystyna Burdelski (Pittsburgh, PA / Fox Chapel) started in the circle, tossing 3.2 innings, giving up six runs and recorded a pair of strikeouts. First-year
Abbegail Froehlich (Pittsburgh, PA / Plum) recorded 1.2 scoreless innings with one strikeout.
Against Marietta (5-3), the Titans struck first in the third inning when Pancake launched a two-run home run over the center field fence to give Westminster a 2-0 lead. The Pioneers cut the deficit to 2-1 in the fifth inning and struck the decisive blow in the sixth inning courtesy of a two-run shot by Hannah Richardson to take a 3-2 lead. Haley Bedalota (Aliquippa, PA / Hopewell) and first-year
Alexis Yates (Oakdale, PA / South Fayette) reached on bunt singles, then advanced on a wild pitch with one out. However, a line-out and a fly out derailed the Titans' comeback chances. Yates led the Titans with three hits, while Bedalota had a pair of knocks and one run scored. Sophomore
Madison Brown (Lisbon, OH / East Liverpool) tossed six innings, scattered seven hits and three runs to go along with seven strikeouts.
Westminster (1-7) will continue its Florida slate with two games on Friday, March 13. Westminster will play Suffolk (MA) at 9:30 a.m., followed by Monmouth (IL) at 1:45 p.m.
