CLERMONT, Fl. – The Westminster College softball team continued their 2020 season at The Spring Games on Monday. The Titans lost the first game, 7-3, in seven innings, against Penn State Berks. They dropped the second game of the double header as well, falling to Carroll University, 9-6.

Haley Bedalota (Aliquippa, PA / Hopewell) reached on an error by the pitcher, which scored sophomore
Jasmine Woodings (Verona, PA / Penn Hills) from third to double the Titans lead. Penn State Berks scored five unanswered runs between the fourth and sixth innings, giving them a 5-2 lead heading into the bottom half of the sixth. After first-year

Leah Pancake (North Lima, OH / Beaver Local) to third, sophomore
Madison Brown (Libson, OH / East Liverpool) scored Pancake on a sacrifice fly to cut the Lion's lead to 5-3. Penn State Berks added two more runs before the end of the game to grab the win by a final score of 7-3. Brown pitched a complete game, allowing seven runs (three earned) on 12 hits while grabbing two strike outs.
Against Wittenburg, (3-1), the Titans got off fast start as a first-inning single by senior
Victoria Pezzuolo (New Castle, PA / Mohawk) scored Bedalota from third to give the Titans a 1-0 lead. Wittenburg tied the game in the bottom half of the inning when Victoria Toetz doubled down the third base line, scoring the runner from first. The Tigers grabbed a 2-1 lead in the second on a on a suicide squeeze which scored the runner from third. The Titans were down 2-1 until the top of the fifth inning when they struck for three runs courtesy of a Pancake double, which scored Bedalota, and a Pezzuolo single which scored Pancake and Woodings. Krystyna Burdelski (Pittsbiugh, PA / Fox Chapel) pitched a complete game, allowing six runs (three earned) on nine hits. Pezzuolo led the Titans at the plate going two for four with three RBI's.
Westminster (1-5) will continue its Florida slate with two games on Wednesday, March 11. Westminster will Haverford at 11:30 a.m., followed by Marietta at 1:45 p.m.
