Women’s Lacrosse: Titans’ Comeback Falls Short at Medaille

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Westminster College women's lacrosse team lost, 10-9, on the road in a non-conference matchup against Medaille College on Tuesday evening.
 
Westminster (1-2) got off to a 4-2 lead with 9:38 left in the first half. Medaille (1-0) responded with two goals in the final minutes of the period to knot the game up at 4-4 going into halftime. In the second half, the Titans and Mavericks traded goals until the score was 6-6 with 22:26 remaining. The Mavericks proceeded to score four of the next five goals to garner a 10-7 lead with 5:13 remaining. The Titans mounted a comeback, as senior Bria Braddock (Beaver Falls, PA / Blackhawk) scored with five minutes left to make the score 10-8. With 35 seconds left, first-year Ava Krensky (Bethesda, MD / Walter Johnson) scored her game- and career-high sixth goal off of a free-position attempt to cut the deficit to one goal. The Titans had an opportunity to tie the game, but fired a shot that went wide with under 10 seconds to go.
 
Westminster out shot the Mavericks (20-17) and led in ground balls (26-23). The Titans also bested Medaille in draw controls (12-9).
 
Krensky career-day came on just seven shots. Krensky also scooped up a pair of ground balls and had four draw controls. Braddock finished with two goals, tied for a team-high five ground balls and had a pair of caused turnovers. Braddock also had a team-high five draw controls. Junior Michaela Hays (Blairsville, PA / Blairsville) scored a goal and earned four ground balls. Titan sophomore goalkeeper Emma Bradley (South Fayette, PA / South Fayette) recorded five saves in a complete-game effort.
 
Westminster is back in action Saturday, February 29 on the road against non-conference for Ohio Wesleyan University at 1 p.m.
