Box Score BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Westminster College women's soccer team topped the previously undefeated Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets in the first day of the Buffalo State Bengals Classic by a final score of 2-1 Friday evening.
It marked the third one-goal game in four contests for Westminster and its second victory in one-goal games this season.
The Titans improved to 3-1, while Baldwin Wallace fell to the same.
Westminster got on the board first just 11 minutes into the first half when sophomore
Reagan Olson (Delaware, OH / Rutherford B. Hayes) buried her first goal of the season off of a feed from junior
Jocelyn Gillette (Natrona Heights, PA / Highlands) to give the Titans a 1-0 lead. The Titans fired 14 shots (seven on goal) in the first half, but only managed a 1-0 lead heading into the halftime break.
In the 51
st minute, the Yellow Jackets answered with a goal to knot the game up at 1-1, before reigning Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Rookie of the Week
Julia Redilla (Harmony, PA / Seneca Valley) broke the tie in the 64
th minute to give Westminster a 2-1 lead. The Yellow Jackets tallied 12 shots in the second half, but the Titans' back line held on for the 2-1 victory.
Westminster bested Baldwin Wallace in shots (25-16) and corner kicks (7-6).
Sophomore
Camille Holzschuh (Youngstown, OH / Boardman) tallied a career-high 10 saves while only giving up one goal in the complete game victory.
The Titans return to the pitch tomorrow to take on Buffalo State in day two of the Bengals Classic. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
