ERIE, Pa. – The Westminster College volleyball team remained undefeated with two wins in the first day of the Penn State Behrend Invitational on Friday.
 
The Titans shut out host Penn State Behrend (0-1) with a score of 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-16) to open the night. Senior 
Reilly DeGeorge (Ashtabula, OH / Saint John) knocked down a match-high 13 kills, to go along with 17 digs. Sophomore 
Maya Steward (Los Angeles, CA / William Howard Taft) added nine kills. Sophomore 
Samantha Kelly (Irwin, PA / Penn-Trafford) dished out a match-high 17 assists. Senior 
Josie Toporcer (Warren, OH / Lordstown) led the Titan defense with 18 digs. Junior 
Haley Moore (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) set a new career-high in digs with 13, while dishing out 13 assists. First-year 
Kaylee Sciubba (Tarentum, PA / Deer Lakes) registered a match-high six blocks.
 
Westminster battled to keep their undefeated season intact in its second game with a come-from-behind five-set thriller over Defiance (3-3). The Titans won the first set, 25-20, however lost set two, 17-25, and set three, 14-25. Westminster forced a fifth and deciding set with a 25-20 fourth set victory. The Titans outlasted Defiance, 18-16, in the final set. Steward (14), DeGeorge (13), and sophomore 
Becky Adelman (Randolph, OH / Waterloo) (11) all had double-digit kills. DeGeorge earned a match-high four service aces, while leading the Titans in digs with 27. Toporcer tallied 24 digs, followed by Steward with 21. Moore set a new career-high with 18 digs, to go along with 20 assists. Kelly once again led in assists with 21.
 
Westminster will close out the Penn State Behrend Invite tomorrow with an 11 a.m. match against Fredonia, followed by a 1 p.m. matchup versus Mount Union.
