Women’s Soccer: Titans Shut Out Bethany in PAC Opener

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College women's soccer team shut out Bethany College, 4-0, in their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener at home Saturday afternoon.

Westminster scored the first goal of the game in the 20th minute when sophomore Ashley Frank (Mentor, OH / Mentor) placed a well-executed through ball to senior Kayla Trozzi (Monroeville, PA / Gateway) who placed the ball to the upper right 90 of the net. Trozzi now has a team-high seven goals on the year. Five minutes later, Trozzi returned the favor with a perfect cross in the box to first-year Julia Redilla (Harmony, PA / Seneca Valley) for the goal, extending Westminster's lead to 2-0.

Senior Kaelyn Puhalla (Youngstown, OH / Austintown-Fitch) converted on a penalty kick to put the Titans up 3-0 with 15 left in the first half. The Titans led 3-0 at halftime. Puhalla added another goal with two minutes left in the game, tying a career-high for goals in a contest. Titan sophomore goalkeeper Camille Holzschuh (Youngstown, OH / Boardman) earned the shutout victory with 45 minutes of work.

Westminster improved to 6-4 overall and 1-0 in the PAC, while Bethany dropped to 0-7-1 and
0-1 in league play.

Westminster is back in action Wednesday, Oct. 2 with a road-non-conference game at Alfred University at 8 p.m.
