ALFRED, New York – The Westminster College men's soccer team lost, 2-1, in overtime at Alfred University on Wednesday.
In the first half, Alfred (3-8, 0-2 EMPIRE 8) and Westminster (6-5, 1-0 PAC) both generated offense with 13 total shots combined, but neither team was able to break through and went into halftime tied at 0-0.
In the second half, the Saxons scored the first goal of the game in the 78
th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Just two minutes later, sophomore
Michael Roman (Norristown, PA / Germantown Academy) tallied the first goal of his collegiate career to knot the game up at 1-1. Three minutes into overtime, Alfred notched the game-winning goal to seal the victory.
The Saxons bested the Titans in shots (19-12) while Westminster led in corner kicks (5-3).

Ezra Cimino (Brookline, MA / Waldorf) earned eleven saves in the complete game effort. Cimino's 11 saves were one short of his career-high.
Westminster will return to the pitch on Saturday when it takes on Washington and Jefferson in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup on the road. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
