PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Westminster College volleyball team swept La Roche University in straight-sets in a non-conference road contest Tuesday night.
The win extended Westminster's winning streak to six matches and also marked the ninth shutout for the Titans this season. The Titans improved to 14-1 overall, while the Redhawks dropped to 4-10.
The Titans won by the scores of 25-21, 25-17, and 25-16. Westminster put an exclamation mark on the match with a .455 hitting percentage for the deciding third set.
Sophomore
Maya Steward (Los Angeles, CA / William Howard Taft) led the Titan offense with nine kills and added six digs on defense. First-year
Isabelle Snyder (Centerville, PA / Maplewood) and sophomore
Becky Adelman (Randolph, OH / Waterloo) added six and five kills, respectively. Junior
Haley Moore (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) set a career-high with four kills. Sophomore
Samantha Kelly (Irwin, PA / Penn-Trafford) dished out a team-high 13 assists, followed by Moore with eight. Kelly also had five digs. Adelman tied a career-high with a match-high three aces. Sophomore
Maya Thornton (Clarion, PA / Clarion Area) tied a career-best with a match-best 15 digs. Senior
Reilly DeGeorge (Ashtabula, OH / Saint John) had four kills, two aces, and eight digs.
Westminster is back on the court Thursday, Oct. 3 with a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest at Washington & Jefferson at 7 p.m.
