NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College volleyball team swept Hilbert College (NY) in a non-conference contest at home Tuesday night.
The Titans won by the scores of 25-4, 25-6, and 25-12.
Westminster's team hitting percentage of .393 was the most in a single match since 2017 (.413 against Waynesburg). First-year
Vanessa Tom (White Oak, PA / Serra Catholic) tied a match-high with a career-best seven kills. Senior
Reilly DeGeorge (Ashtabula, OH / Saint John) tied Tom with seven kills of her own. Junior
Megan Steele (Corry, PA / Corry) added six kills, to go along with a match-best two blocks. First-year
Isabelle Snyder (Centerville, PA / Maplewood) and sophomore
Maya Steward (Los Angeles, CA / William Howard Taft) both had four kills.
Sophomore
Samantha Kelly (Irwin, PA / Penn-Trafford) registered a match-high four aces, while dishing out a match-high 17 assists. Sophomore
Maya Thornton (Clarion, PA / Clarion Area) led the defense with a match- and career-high 15 digs and added a pair of aces. First-year
Amanda Stevenson (Fairfield, OH / Stephen T Badin) earned nine digs in her collegiate debut.
Westminster improved to 11-1 overall, while Hilbert dropped to 0-6.
Westminster is back on the court Saturday, September 21 with a home tri-match against Saint Vincent College at 11 a.m. and The College of Wooster at 3 p.m.
