GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Westminster College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) today selected football senior
Aaron Pierce (Fort Lauderdale, FL / Hollywood) as its Titan Athlete of the Week for his performance during the week of September 2.
Pierce returned a pair of interceptions for touchdowns in Thursday's season-opening win against Capital. His 97-yard return gave the Titans a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter and his 50-yard score came just four offensive plays later. Pierce is the first Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) player since Thomas More's Marcus Lancaster (at Bethany, 10/23/2010) to return two interceptions for touchdowns in a game. Pierce's 97-yard return garnered national recognition on ESPN's SportsCenter, earning the No. 9 spot on the program's Top-10 plays. Pierce was also named the PAC Defensive Player of the Week and on the D3football.com Team of the Week.
Westminster will return to the field on Saturday when it opens up the conference schedule at home against Waynesburg University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
