Men’s Lacrosse: Dodd’s Four Goals Leads Titans Past Bethany, Westminster Set for PAC Playoffs

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's lacrosse team won, 18-4, over Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Bethany College at home in their regular season finale on Saturday.
 
Westminster (8-6, 5-2 PAC) blanked Bethany (4-10, 1-5 PAC) in the first half and led, 11-0. The Titans outscored the Bison, 5-1, in the third quarter to lead 16-1. Bethany added three goals in the fourth, while the Titans had two.
 
Titan sophomore Jesse Dodd (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Lebanon) scored a career and game-high four goals, including his first of the season. Junior Chris Slater (Plum, PA / Central Catholic) and freshman Joe Rosa (Newton, NJ / Kittatinny Regional) each had three goals. Also earning a multi-goal game were sophomore Shane Fisher (Palm Harbor, FL / East Lake) and junior Adrian Culp (Gaithersburg, MD / Quince Orchard) who each scored a pair of goals. Junior Dante Serra (Center Valley, PA / Southern Lehigh), sophomore Nick Trella (Moon Twp, PA / Moon Area), senior Alex Kennedy (Moon Township, PA / Moon Area), and freshman Hamish Mathwin (Marion, Australia / Westminster) each added a goal. Serra also dished out a game-high three assists, while Trella and senior Ryan Shorts (Westlake Village, CA / Oak Park) each had two assists. Dodd, Slater, and Serra all had a game-high four points on the day. Freshman Bennett Webster (Penfield, NY / Penfield) led the Titans in ground balls with seven and won 16 of his 20 face-offs. Junior Dylan Wolford (Apex, NC / Apex) and sophomore Reilly Woodbury (Henniker, NH / Bishop Brady) both tied for a team-high in caused turnovers with two. Titan senior goalkeeper Carter Hall (Zeeland, MI / Zeeland West) allowed one goal and had six saves in 42 minutes of work.
 
The Titans, winners of five of their last six games, have clinched a spot in the PAC Tournament for the first postseason berth in school history. The PAC Championships is set to begin on Wednesday, May 1.
