NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.- The Westminster College softball team was back in action on Wednesday afternoon, taking on Geneva College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader showdown. The Titans dropped game one, 7-5, in eight innings and regrouped with a 6-4 victory in game two.
 
In game one, the Titans were boosted by an offensive showing from sophomore Haley Bedalota (Aliquippa, PA / Hopewell). Bedalota connected on her second home run of the season in the bottom of the third inning, belting a middle-in fastball over the fence in left center field to give the Titans their first lead of the game (2-1). The Titans held the lead up until the top of the seventh inning, but a late Geneva run knotted the game back up at four, sending the game to extra innings. The Golden Tornadoes went on to score three runs in the top half of the eighth inning, giving them the lead. Junior Lauren McNany (Emlenton, PA / Allegheny-Clarion Valley) launched her first home run of the season in the bottom half of the eighth, but the Golden Tornadoes would hang on. First-year Krystyna Burdelski (Pittsburgh, PA / Fox Chapel) started on the mound for the Titans, tossing all eight innings, giving up eight earned runs to go along with a pair of strikeouts.

In game two, Titan first-year Madison Brown (Libson, OH / East Liverpool) tossed a complete game, while holding the Golden Tornadoes to four runs. Brown helped herself on the mound with a game-high two hits of her own. The Titans broke the game open in the middle innnings, when sophomore Ashley Chorney (Indian Trail, NC / Porter Ridge) knocked an RBI-double over the center fielder's head to tie the game, 3-3, in the third inning. The Titans would tack on three more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, capped off by back-to-back RBI-singles by Brown and sophomore Leigha Knox (Aliquippa, PA / Central Valley) to seal the victory. The Titans benefited from a balanced offensive attack, as eight players collected hits.
 
Westminster moved to 9-15 overall and 2-6 in the PAC, while Geneva went to 12-14 overall and 4-4 in league play.
 
The Titans will be back in action Saturday, April 13, when they travel to Washington & Jefferson College for a PAC doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
