Softball: Titans Swept at Hiram

HIRAM, Ohio – The Westminster College softball team lost both games at Hiram College in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday. The Titans lost, 8-0, in five innings in game one and, 3-1, in the nightcap.
 
Hiram (3-10-1) held Westminster (5-7) to four hits in game one, while scoring one run in the first inning, four in the second, two in the third, and one in the fourth. First-year Jasmine Woodings (Verona, PA / Penn Hills), junior Lauren McNany (Emlenton, PA / Allegheny-Clarion Valley), sophomore Breanna Tetirick (New Concord, OH / John Glenn), and sophomore Leigha Knox (Aliquippa, PA / Central Valley) each had a hit for the Titans. First-year Krystyna Burdelski (Pittsburgh, PA / Fox Chapel) (3-3) went 4.0 innings, giving up three earned runs off nine hits and earned a strikeout.
 
The Titans scored first in game two in the first inning, off the bat of first-year Madison Brown (Lisbon, OH / East Liverpool) who singled home sophomore Haley Bedalota (Aliquippa, PA / Hopewell). Westminster held its one-run lead for four innings. In the bottom of the fifth, the Terriers tied the game and then took the lead with two runs in the sixth. The Titans had the tying run on second base in their last at-bat with two outs in the seventh, but were unable to bring any home. Brown (2-4) pitched a complete game, giving up three runs on six hits. She struck out three and walked none. Bedalota led the Titans at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a run scored and drew a walk.
 
The Titans are back on the field Saturday, March 23 for a non-conference doubleheader at Pitt. Bradford, starting at 1 p.m.
